About CA Intermediate
The Intermediate examination is the second level of ICAI's Chartered Accountancy course, taken after the Foundation or through direct entry by eligible graduates and ICSI or ICMAI intermediate passed candidates. It has six papers of 100 marks in two groups, each paper mixing 30% case-based MCQs with 70% descriptive questions. For the September 2026 attempt ICAI held Group I on 1, 3 and 6 September and Group II on 8, 10 and 12 September 2026.
Eligibility (summary)
Under ICAI's New Scheme of Education and Training, students who have passed Class XII and the Foundation examination, or commerce graduates with 55% (other graduates 60%) and ICSI or ICMAI intermediate passed candidates through direct entry, register for the Intermediate course and appear after 8 months of theoretical education.
