About ICG Navik/Yantrik

The Indian Coast Guard recruits enrolled persons as Navik (General Duty), Navik (Domestic Branch), Yantrik (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics) and Hygienist-I through the Coast Guard Enrolled Persons Test (CGEPT). For batches 01/2027 and 02/2027 (365 tentative vacancies), online applications open on the Staff Selection Commission website from 06 to 21 October 2026. Selection runs through a computer-based exam (Stage I), qualifying tests and medicals at ICG recruitment centres (Stage II), final checks at INS Chilka (Stage III) and document authentication (Stage IV).

Eligibility (summary)

CGEPT 01/2027 and 02/2027: Navik (GD) needs Class 12 with Maths and Physics, Navik (DB) Class 10, Yantrik Class 10 (or Classes 10 and 12) plus an AICTE-approved diploma in Electrical, Mechanical or Electronics/Telecommunication engineering, and Hygienist-I matriculation or ITI. Navik (GD) applicants must be born between 01 Nov 2005 and 01 May 2009 (Yantrik 01 May 2005 to 01 May 2009), with 3 years' relaxation for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST.     Stage I: Computer Based Examination

    100 objective questions of 1 mark each, bilingual, 1 hour, no negative marking; Stage I marks decide merit

  2. 2

    Stage II: PFT, Assessment Test, Documents and Medical

    Qualifying stage at ICG recruitment centres: physical fitness test, assessment and adaptability test, document verification and recruitment medical examination

    Stage III: Final Verification at INS Chilka

    Aadhaar-based identity check, document verification, pre-enrolment medicals and police verification for candidates in merit

  4. 4

    Stage IV: Document Authentication

    Verification of original educational and other documents with the issuing boards, universities and state authorities

Stage I: Computer Based ExaminationComputer-based exam of 100 objective (multiple-choice) questions of 1 mark each, bilingual (Hindi & English), duration one hour; no negative marking for wrong answers. Passing marks 40 for UR/EWS/OBC and 35 for SC/ST; scores are normalised if the exam runs in several shifts. Stage II: PFT, Assessment Test, Documents and MedicalQualifying only. PFT, done without a break: male 1.6 km run in 6 min 30 sec, 20 squats, 15 push-ups, 15 bent-knee sit-ups; female 1.6 km run in 8 min, 15 squats, 10 push-ups, 10 bent-knee sit-ups.
