About AFCAT
AFCAT is the Indian Air Force's twice-yearly entrance test for commissioned officer posts in the Flying Branch and the Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. Graduates who clear the online test go on to multi-day testing at an Air Force Selection Board (AFSB), and Flying Branch candidates also take the Computerised Pilot Selection System.
Eligibility (summary)
Indian citizen; Flying Branch age 20-24 years (relaxable to 26 for holders of a DGCA Commercial Pilot Licence) and Ground Duty age 20-26 years as on 01 July 2027 (AFCAT 02/2026); must be unmarried at the start of training; graduation/engineering qualifications vary by branch Read the latest notification for exact age limits, relaxations and qualifications.
