About SSC JHT

The Staff Selection Commission's Combined Hindi Translators Examination recruits Junior Translation Officers, Junior Hindi Translators, Junior Translators and Senior Hindi Translators (Group B, non-gazetted) for central government offices. Paper-I is an objective computer based test in General Hindi and General English; shortlisted candidates write a descriptive Paper-II in translation and essay. The 2026 notice (23 April 2026) listed 84 tentative vacancies, and Paper-I was held on 8 and 13 September 2026.

Eligibility (summary)

Combined Hindi Translators Examination, 2026 (JHT/JTO/JT posts): Master's degree in Hindi or English with the other language as a compulsory/elective subject or medium at degree level (or the equivalent combinations listed), plus a recognised translation diploma/certificate or two years' translation experience; age 18-30 years as on 01-08-2026.
