About BARC OCES/DGFS
The BARC Training Schools select engineering graduates and science postgraduates for the one-year Orientation Course (OCES); trainees who pass are posted as Scientific Officer 'C' in DAE units, and a few engineering selectees get the DAE Graduate Fellowship (DGFS) to study M.Tech at IIT Bombay or IIT Madras. Candidates are screened for the selection interview through BARC's online exam (held on 14 and 15 March 2026 for OCES/DGFS-2026) or a valid GATE score, and final selection rests solely on the interview, subject to medical fitness.
Eligibility (summary)
For OCES/DGFS-2026: B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc.(Engg.)/5-year integrated M.Tech. in one of eight engineering disciplines, or M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Biosciences, Geology or Geophysics, with at least 60% aggregate marks (or CGPA 6.0/10); maximum age as on 1 August 2026 is 26 years for General, 29 for OBC (NCL) and 31 for SC/ST candidates.
