About NTSE

The National Talent Search Examination was NCERT's two-stage scholarship test for Class 10 students. Each State/UT held Stage I and nominated candidates for the national Stage II conducted by NCERT; both stages had a Mental Ability Test (MAT) and a Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), and under the 2019 brochure each paper had 100 questions in 120 minutes with no negative marking. About two thousand scholarships were awarded (Rs 1,250 a month in Class 11-12 and Rs 2,000 a month for UG/PG, per the SCERT Kerala 2021-22 brochure). The last Stage II exam in these papers was held on 24 October 2021, and NCERT's NTSE page lists the NTSE 2021 exam as postponed, with no later cycle announced. Many state papers from 2013 to 2020 also included a language comprehension test. The papers remain useful practice for MAT/SAT-style exams.
