About GATE

GATE tests undergraduate-level knowledge across engineering, science, architecture, commerce, arts and humanities. Scores are used for Master's and doctoral admissions (often with financial support), and several public sector undertakings recruit on the basis of GATE scores. IISc and the IITs host it in turn; IIT Madras is organising GATE 2027, with exams scheduled for February 2027.
