About CEED

CEED is the design aptitude examination conducted by IIT Bombay as a qualifying test for M.Des. admission at IISc Bangalore, several IITs and the IIITDMs at Jabalpur and Kancheepuram, and for Ph.D. programmes at several IITs and design schools. It has a one-hour computer-based Part A and a two-hour Part B of design, drawing and writing questions, with the final score weighted 25:75 between them. Admitting institutes may hold further tests or interviews; CEED 2027 is scheduled for 17 January 2027.

Eligibility (summary)

CEED 2027: candidates who have completed, or will complete by July 2027, a degree, diploma or postgraduate programme of at least three years after 10+2, or the 5-year G.D. Art diploma; there is no age limit and no limit on attempts. Read the latest notification for exact age limits, relaxations and qualifications.

CEED examination (Part A and Part B)Part A (computer-based, 150 marks, 1 hour): 8 NAT questions of 4 marks with no negative marks; 10 MSQs with +4 full, +3/+2/+1 partial and -1 otherwise; 26 MCQs of 3 marks with -0.5 for a wrong answer. Part B (100 marks, 2 hours): five questions testing design, drawing and writing skills, answered in a booklet and evaluated only for candidates shortlisted on Part A.
