About AISSEE

The All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) is the pen-and-paper test that NTA conducts for the Sainik Schools Society, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Defence, for admission to Class VI and Class IX of the 33 Sainik Schools and the approved New Sainik Schools. Class VI candidates take a 125-question paper in English, Hindi or a regional language; Class IX candidates take a 150-question paper in English. AISSEE 2026 was held on 18 January 2026.

Eligibility (summary)

AISSEE 2026: Class VI candidates must be 10 to 12 years old on 31 March 2026 (born 01 April 2014 to 31 March 2016) and Class IX candidates 13 to 15 years (born 01 April 2011 to 31 March 2013), having passed Class VIII by admission; girls may apply to both classes.
