This is GPSC's flagship combined competitive examination for Gujarat Administrative Service Class-1, Gujarat Civil Services Class-1 and Class-2 and Gujarat Municipal Chief Officer Service Class-2 posts, run under the Combined Competitive Examination Rules that Gujarat notified on 3 March 2025; the 2026 cycle is Advt. No. 5/2026-27. Graduates aged 20 to 35 sit an objective General Studies screening paper, after which about fifteen times the vacancies go on to a seven-paper descriptive Main Examination and a personality test. Since Advt. 240/2024-25 the prelim has been a single 200-mark General Studies paper; cycles up to Advt. 47/2023-24 had two 200-mark papers (CSP-1 and CSP-2).
