About WBCS

The Public Service Commission, West Bengal holds the W.B.C.S. (Exe.) etc. Examination to fill Group A, B, C and D state services and posts, including the West Bengal Civil Service (Executive) and the West Bengal Police Service. A General Studies preliminary paper screens candidates for the Main Examination, which has six compulsory papers plus, for Group A and B, one optional subject of two papers. Eligibility (summary)

Under Advt. No. 01/2023 (WBCS 2023), candidates needed a degree of a recognised university and the ability to read, write and speak Bengali (not required where the mother tongue is Nepali); age 21 to 36 years on 1 January of the examination year for Group A and C, 20 to 36 for Group B (West Bengal Police Service) and 21 to 39 for Group D, with relaxation for reserved categories.
