About RRB ALP

RRB ALP recruits Assistant Loco Pilots (Level 2, starting pay Rs 19,900), who assist in driving trains, for all railway zones. The latest notice, CEN 01/2026, has 11,127 vacancies and is aimed at candidates with Class 10 plus an ITI or apprenticeship in specified trades, or an engineering diploma/degree in mechanical, electrical, electronics or automobile streams. Selection runs through two CBTs and a psychometric aptitude test, and the A-1 medical standard (including vision) is strict.

Eligibility (summary)

Age 18-30 years as on 01.07.2026 (with relaxations); Matriculation plus ITI (NCVT/SCVT) or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in notified trades, or Matriculation plus a 3-year diploma (or degree) in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile Engineering.     Online objective screening test; marks not counted in the final merit; shortlists up to 15 times vacancies for CBT-2

    Second Stage CBT (CBT-2)

    Online objective test in two parts: Part A (merit) and Part B (trade-based, qualifying)

    Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

    Psychometric test for 8 times vacancies; no negative marking; T-score of 42 needed in each test battery
