Main Examination pattern
Under Appendix A of the 1967 Rules (High Court copy): all six compulsory papers (I English essay, translation and precis; II General Knowledge and Constitution; III criminal procedure and evidence; IV financial and service rules and High Court orders; V civil procedure and limitation; VI property and rent law) and three of six optional papers, each of 100 marks and three hours. The 2025 Compulsory Paper I (English) booklet likewise states 100 marks and three hours. The subjects of the current papers have since been amended.
