Distance = Speed × Time

Understand

The whole chapter rests on one relation: distance = speed × time. Every other formula comes from it.

Distance = Speed × Time

Speed = Distance ÷ Time

Time = Distance ÷ Speed

Example

150 km in 2 hours 30 minutes → 150 ÷ 2.5 = 60 km/h. 45 km at 30 km/h → 45 ÷ 30 = 1.5 hours = 1 hour 30 minutes.

Common mistake

Writing 2 hours 30 minutes as 2.30 hours is wrong. 30 minutes = 30/60 = 0.5 hour, so it is 2.5 hours.
