UDISE+: national database of schools
Understand
UDISE+ = Unified District Information System for Education Plus — the Ministry of Education's national database recording, every year, school-wise data on enrolment, teachers, infrastructure and facilities of every recognised school (government and private).
| UDISE (earlier) | UDISE+ (from 2018-19) |
|---|---|
| Paper formats, compiled later | Schools enter data online themselves |
| Late figures | Moving towards real-time collection |
Rule
Every school has a unique UDISE code — an 11-digit identification number.
Example
Each year the head teacher fills in, on the UDISE+ portal, the number of children, teacher details and facilities such as toilets, drinking water and electricity.
Common mistake
Thinking UDISE+ covers only government schools — it covers all recognised schools, government and private.
