Individual differences
Understand
No two children are exactly alike — they differ in height, intelligence, interests, pace of learning, learning style, language and temperament. These are individual differences. They are caused by both heredity and environment.
Rule
Areas: physical, mental (intelligence), emotional, social, interests and aptitudes, learning style, achievement.
Causes: heredity + environment (home, nutrition, school, culture, language) + age, sex, maturity.
Teacher's role: varied methods and materials, group work, different ways for children to show learning, letting them learn at their own pace.
Example
In Class 4 some children learn best from pictures, some by listening and some by doing → the teacher uses pictures, stories and activities, and lets children answer through drawing, speech or writing.
Remember
Options that say 'the same method at the same pace for all' are usually wrong.
Common mistake
Giving only heredity or only environment as the cause — it is both.
