Preliminary Examination pattern
A screening test of qualifying nature: one paper of multiple choice questions carrying a maximum of 200 marks, with 25% negative marking. Minimum qualifying marks 60% for general category and 55% for reserved categories; up to ten times the vacancies in each category go to the mains. The 2023 question booklet states 200 questions of one mark each, 2 hours 30 minutes.
